Position description
The Community Standards Case Manager (CSCM) plays a key role in maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing the implementation and administration of the Student Code of Conduct. The incumbent will also support the administration of other policies and codes related to non-academic student conduct, which include the Residence Life Code of Conduct, the Sexualized Violence Policy, and the Anti-Racism Education and Response Policy. The CSCM utilizes a trauma-informed lens to address misconduct, promote restorative justice, and support student community.
Reporting to the Director of Student Experience, the CSCM ensures that all student conduct processes are fair, transparent, and consistent with university policies. This includes managing complaints, conducting investigations, and planning and facilitating educational programs aimed at fostering a respectful community.
The responsibilities of this new position may evolve over time.
Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Oversee the management of student conduct cases and determine the best course for each individual case.
- Oversee Committee Membership: Work with the Director of Student Experience and Vice-President Student Affairs to promote the activation of and select members of the University community to serve on the University Judicial Panel and the Sexualized Violence Appeal Panel.
- Advisory Role: Serve as an advisor to university committees on matters related to student conduct.
- Promote and Encourage Non-Punitive Sanctions: Advocate for and work with external partners to implement restorative justice and mediation practices where and when possible. This involves fostering a culture that prioritizes reconciliation, mutual understanding, and constructive resolution of conflicts, rather than punitive measures where appropriate
- Promote Awareness: Create awareness of the university’s community standards and accountability policies and frameworks.
- Support Services: Refer students to support services and resources, ensuring their rights and responsibilities are upheld and that their wellbeing is protected. This includes membership on the Student of Concern Case Team
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all student conduct cases and ensure confidentiality.
- Reporting: Prepare reports on student conduct trends and outcomes for university leadership.
- Continuous Improvement: Evaluate and improve student conduct processes and policies.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications/skills
- A Bachelor’s degree or related equivalent experience in restorative justice, community standards, conduct, conflict resolution, or similar.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in conduct management or a related area, ideally in a post-secondary environment.
- Demonstrated ability to apply a trauma-informed approach to problem-solving and decision-making, ensuring fair and equitable outcomes.

- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills for case management and reporting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student conduct management
- Ability to work independently and with confidentiality, as appropriate
- Ability to use computer technology within an education context
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours
